Updated information for 3rd-6th Grade Girls and Boys Basketball

Updated information for 3rd-6th Grade Girls and Boys Basketball

The league introduces fundamentals and fun, with friendly competition. Players will begin to learn skills in dribbling, shooting, passing.

  • Practices and games begin Saturday, January 8th, at the Oak Harbor Intermediate Schools for 3 years-kindergarten and Oak Harbor High School for 1st-2nd grades.
  • We will try to grant special requests, but there are no guarantees.
  • Games are scheduled between 8 a.m. - 2 p.m., depending on the number of teams each division has.
  • These programs are co-ed
  • We will make teams up to 10.
  • Players will play half the game.
  • Players/teams from outside North Whidbey are invited to join us.
  • Coaches can bring in players, but no more than five, and the District will fill the remaining spaces with players that need teams.
  • Players may play up in a division, but no players may play down, even to keep siblings together.
  • Due to COVID, we ask if players have their own basketballs they bring them with their names written on the balls with permanent markers (psst, they would make a good Christmas present.)  3 years through kindergarten divisions will play with mini size balls. 1st/2nd grades will play with the 27.5 inches.
  • Please keep snacks until after the games. Water bottles are good but encourage your child to wait until between the practice, and games and they should be with the player on the sidelines.
  • Parents, please remain on the sidelines unless a coach asks for parent help. This helps coaches.
  • Masks are required for all parents while in the facility,  NO EXCEPTIONS unless you need ADA accommodations. Face shields are an acceptable form of accommodation. We are a form of local government and must follow all Washington State COVID guidelines. Thank you for understanding.
  • Players need close-toed court shoes.
  • You can register after December 1st, but the fee is then $120.00.

  • We will make teams up to 10 players, no more.
  • Players will play half the game.
  • We invite players from out of District to join us. If we can secure practice times in your community, we will; otherwise, we can find you practice spaces in Oak Harbor.
