Our ability to make a positive impact on the lives of young individuals relies heavily on the commitment of our dedicated volunteers. Join us in our mission and contribute to creating a meaningful difference in the lives of these young people. Your support is invaluable.
Volunteer Application
Becoming a coach involves a background check, including references, and filling out a volunteer application.
Background Checks
Social Security Number New as of 2023
We utilize your social security number for conducting a background check. Nevertheless, we retain the option to employ fingerprints in cases where your social security number doesn't provide the required information. Should you opt not to provide your social security number in your volunteer application, our Business Manager, Julie Millang, can arrange a meeting for you to visit. During this meeting, she can directly input your card details into the background check system, ensuring that we don't retain a record of it. Rest assured, we delete this information from your application as soon as we receive the results of your background check.
Fingerprinting
Our staff will reach out to you if we need your fingerprints. Fingerprint cards can be obtained from the Front Desk at the John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool. Coaches have the flexibility to collect these cards during our operational hours. For specific days and timings, kindly refer to our main webpage. Additional details about fingerprinting can be found in the links provided below.
In accordance with HB 1824, as mandated by the state of Washington, we are obligated to ensure that coaches and parents are well-informed about concussions and to maintain documentation of your acknowledgment. Our protocol includes requiring coaches to furnish a certificate confirming their completion of concussion training. We acknowledge that coaches often oversee multiple sports. If you have already undergone training within the past calendar year, you have the option to provide us with that certificate for our records.
For instance, if you participated in training in September 2022, your certification remains valid until September 2023, and you are welcome to submit this certificate to us. In the event that you are unable to physically print a certificate, you have the alternative of capturing an image on your computer or taking a screenshot. Please feel free to email this image to RecCoordinator@nwpprd.org. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Please reach out to our Recreation Coordinator if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Participants may request to play up an age division if appropriate but cannot play down into a younger group. Please contact our Recreation Coordinator if you need assistance registering.
Our recreation programs are open to everyone, regardless of where you live.
Our recreation offerings vary throughout the year and often include summer day camps, flag football, volleyball, basketball, pickleball, art classes, and more.
