Swim Lesson Information

Registration is Open for 2023 Session 1 Lessons for ALL Levels. 

Registration is OPEN for AquaKids, Preschool Level 1, Learn-to-Swim Level 1, and Adult Classes for all of 2023.

Online Swim Lesson Registration Directions

1. Visit our online registration system.

2. New users 

  • create an account, 

or

Returning 

  • visitors login.

3. Click "Sign Up for Camp/Class"

4. Choose your class

5. Under the heading "Sign Up" in the last column choose the class you want to join.

6. Select your family member

7. Click "Add to Cart"

8. At the top of the white box click "View Cart"

9. Choose payment method

10. At the top of the white box click "Continue to Check Out"

11. Click "Continue with Payment and Scheduling"


**Please note: You must verify your residency in-person (with valid photo ID or utility bill) at our front desk prior to registration to receive resident rates.**


Paid Training to Become a Swim Instructor

Looking for a job while your children are in school? We are offering paid American Red Cross Water Safety Instruction training. Flexible daytime, evening, and weekend hours.

Tot Classes

Aquatots is for 6 - 36 months

Adult & Tot

Aquatot classes are designed for an adult to participate in the pool with the child for them to become comfortable in and around water, and learn swimming readiness skills. 


We require one adult in water per child, but two are welcome to attend.
 

Aquatots 6-18mo

  • Water acclimation
  • Climb in & out
  • Blow bubbles
  • Explore submerging mouth, nose, & eyes
  • Explore buoyancy
  • Change body position
  • Learn to play safely

Aquatots 18-36mo

*Skills performed with assistance*

  • Understand need for adult supervision around water
  • Climb in & out
  • Blow bubbles
  • Explore submerging in a rhythmic pattern
  • Front & back glide with assistance
  • Front & back combined arm & leg actions
  • Change body position


Preschool Levels

Preschool is for children 3 - 5 years

Level 1

  • Climb in & out
  • Blow bubbles (3 sec.)
  • Submerge mouth, nose, & eyes
  • Front & back float (3 sec.)
  • Front to back roll
  • Back to front roll
  • Front & back kicks
  • Front & back glides
  • Reach & pull arms
  • Arm & hand tread action

Level 2

  • Bobs (5 times)
  • Front & back float (15 sec.)
  • Front to back roll
  • Back to front roll
  • Front & back kicks
  • Front & back glides
  • Reach & pull arms
  • Tread (15 sec.)

Level 3

 *Skills performed independently*

  • Bobs (10 times)
  • Submerge (10 sec.)
  • Rotary breathing
  • Jellyfish & tuck floats (10 sec.) 
  • Front to back roll
  • Back to front roll
  • Front & back kicks
  • Front & back glides
  • Reach and pull arms
  • Change direction of travel while on front & back
  • Tread (30 sec.)


Learn to Swim Levels

Learn to Swim is for children 6 - 12 years

Level 1

Introduction to Water Skills'

  • Submerge mouth, nose, & eyes
  • Front & back float (5 sec.)
  • Front to back roll
  • Back to front roll
  • Front & back kicks

  • Arm & hand tread action

Level 2

Fundamental Aquatic Skills 


*Skills performed  independently*

  • Step or jump from side into shoulder-deep water
  • Bobs (10 times)
  • Front, jellyfish, & tuck float (15 sec.)
  • Back float (15 sec.)
  • Front to back roll
  • Back to front roll
  • Front & back kicks
  • Front & back glides
  • Reach and pull arms
  • Tread (15 sec.)
  • Change direction of travel while on front & back

Level 3

Stroke Development

  • Jump into deep water from side, submerge, return to surface then side
  • Seated & kneeling headfirst entry from side
  • Rotary breathing
  • Survival float (30 sec.)
  • Back float (1 min.)
  • Tread (1 min.)

Swim:

  • Freestyle - 15 yd.
  • Elementary backstroke - 15 yd. 
  • Flutter, scissors, breaststroke, & dolphin kicks

Level 4

Stroke Improvement

  • Compact & stride position headfirst entry
  • Feetfirst surface dive
  • Swim underwater
  • Tread w/ 2 different kicks
  • Survival swimming (1 min.)

Swim:

  • Freestyle - 25 yd.
  • Elementary backstroke - 25 yd.
  • Backstroke - 15 yd. 
  • Breaststroke - 15 yd.
  • Butterfly - 15 yd.
  • Sidestroke - 15 yd.
  • Open turns on front & back

Level 5

Stroke Refinement

  • Shallow-angle dive into deep water
  • Tuck surface dive
  • Pike surface dive
  • Tread (5 min.)
  • Tread, legs only (2 min.)
  • Scull (30 sec.)

Swim: 

  • Freestyle - 50 yd.
  • Elementary backstroke - 50 yd.
  • Backstroke - 25 yd.
  • Breaststroke - 25 yd.
  • Butterfly - 25 yd. 
  • Sidestroke - 25 yd.
  • Freestyle & backstroke flip turn

Level 6

Endurance Training

  • Surface dive & retrieve object from bottom, 7 - 10 feet deep

Swim: 

  •  Freestyle - 100 yd.
  • Elementary backstroke - 100 yd.
  • Backstroke - 50 yd.
  • Breaststroke - 50 yd.
  • Butterfly - 50 yd. 
  • Sidestroke - 50 yd.
  • Demonstrate open turns and front & back flip turns while swimming


Adult & Teen Swim

Adult and Teen Swim is for ages 13 - 99 years

Basics

Gain basic aquatic skills & swimming strokes. 



Skills & Strokes

Improve proficiency in basic aquatic skills. 

Fitness Swim

Refine strokes & turns, and build endurance.
