Youth Recreation Programs

Winter Sports

Youth Basketball

Open Registration

Youth basketball is open to all children ages 3 years-6th grade who want to learn and play basketball.  Interest and enthusiasm for basketball are the only requirements for playing.

Every Child Plays

Our goal is for each child to learn and play basketball. Our programs are structured to ensure that each child has the opportunity to actively participate as a member of the team. No prior basketball experience is required.

2023 3 years-2nd grade Rosters are here! Click the picture on the left to view rosters.

We still need volunteer coaches, this program does not exist without them. If you know someone who is interested or you are just not sure you are up to it but want to be involved we can help you. Reach out today. If you have volunteered to coach but don't see a practice time or location, choose one and reach out to us. Practice times and locations are on a first-come, first-served basis, secure yours soon.

Reigster Today!

Become a Recreation Aide and Work in Sports

Recreation Aide typically works on Saturday mornings and weekday evenings, helping us run recreation programs. You may be a supervisor or referee for youth games.

Come Work With Us

Interested in becoming a Youth Sports Coach?

We can’t do this without the help of dedicated volunteers. Please help us make a difference in a young person’s life.

Volunteer Application

Becoming a coach involves a background check, including references, and filling out a volunteer application.

Fingerprinting

Fingerprint cards are available at the Front Desk at the John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool. Coaches can pick up the cards anytime we are open. Please see our main page for days and times. Please see the links below for more fingerprint information.

Concussion Training

The state of Washington requires us, through HB 1824, to require coaches and parents to receive information about concussions and document you received it. We require coaches to provide a certificate showing they completed concussion training. We realize coaches sometimes coach multiple sports. If you have already taken training within the last calendar year, you can submit that certificate to us for your record. For example, if you underwent training in September of 2022, your training is good until September 2023, and you could submit that certificate to us. If you cannot print a certificate, you may take a picture of it on your computer or screenshot it and email the image to  Rec@nwpprd.org.

Volunteer Coaches Links

Please email concussion certificates to Rec@nwpprd.org.

"I'm a coach because of the kids and the passion I have for the game and the sport itself. There is no better feeling than teaching a child the importance of discipline, hard work, team effort, dedication, determination, and the heart it takes to win not only in sports but in life.
